Brighton - A Traditional English Seaside Town
October 7th 2008 00:24
Brighton is one of England's old seaside resort towns. One of its famous sights is the Royal Pavilion, an ornate pleasure palace dating from King George IV's time, I believe. George IV was Prince Regent during the madness of his father, King George III. If that name sounds familiar to Americans, it should - 1776 and all that.
Fans of Regency period romance novels must love Brighton.
My first visit there was just before Christmas one year, and it was rather chilly, by English standards. Of course, being a hardy Canadian, I had no problem.
I do not know this lady but love the way the sun is warming her face. The shoreline behind her shows the sea being calm. There is a fairly pebbly beach here - not soft sand.
