Kebab, Doner, Donair, Meat on a Bun
September 24th 2008 23:28
We call them donair in Canada, but in England you hear kebab or doner.
Meat in a bun. Cut off a big roast of meat on a very big stick. Not high on my list but ... after a hard day... after a pint or two, maybe.
Fast food in England runs the whole range of traditional English fish & chips, Indian curry to take away, doner / kebab, falafel, Chinese food - those are the big ones that come to mind.
I confess... fish and chips in a newspaper cone is still my favourite, but not so easy to find the newspaper cone any more.
Thanks to Nick Gray nickgraywfu on Flickr.com for sharing the photo under CC Sharealike license. Nick took the picture in High Wycombe (a little north-west of London) and went for a doner. Nice pic, Nick.
